action

On the occasion of its company anniversary, the department store chain Berghans & Gutmann is organizing a Christmas spectacle on December 21st on the Mainkai in Frankfurt am Main . In the large-scale marketing campaign, which is broadcast by the local TV broadcaster Skyline TV, an actor in Santa Claus costume is supposed to receive the wishes of children on a ship - but unfortunately the event gets out of hand: Actor Tom von Loessel suffers a heart attack and dies still in costume on board the ship. Production manager Alice desperately needs a replacement for the event. Finally, colleague Daniel was able to persuade Hitchhiker Martin, whom he had picked up on the roadside after a breakdown, to jump in at short notice.

But the series of breakdowns never ends: Martin feels forced to jump into the cold waters during his appearance to save little Lotte from drowning after she has broken the barriers to give Santa Claus her wish list. Lotte is the eldest daughter of Simone and Kerem, who are now expecting their third child. However, Kerem, who has been unemployed for a long time, hides from his wife that he was temporarily hired at the inner-city Christmas market and that the family is about to evict their apartment. So he can ask bailiff Viktor for a few days' respite at short notice.

In any case, he is only thinking about his imminent wedding to his partner Klaus, whom the prospect of the upcoming event plunges into a life crisis. Viktor finds support from his sister Kiki, who works at Berghans & Gutmann and, disguised as an oversized gift, meets her ex-boyfriend Jan again during the event on the Main. The actor has now celebrated his breakthrough as a Hollywood star and has come to Frankfurt to promote his new film The Berserker . For the former couple, who broke up in the bad, the reunion is without much joy.

Simone's friend Clara finds out during the recording that her father, the actor in the castle von Loessel, has died and that she will spend the time until Christmas preparing for his funeral. Reluctantly, she leaves her son Boris in the care of his father Hannes, from whom she lives separately after his affair with Boris' teacher Sarah. While Clara is pushing for a divorce, Hannes is hoping for a reconciliation, and so he takes the presence of his son as an opportunity to convince Clara once again of his qualities as a loyal family man. It is Clara, of all people, who allows herself to slip up with young Daniel after her father's funeral.

At the end of the day there is a happy ending for everyone on Christmas Eve: After spending the night with Daniel, Clara realizes that she only loves one: Hannes. She rushes to him immediately, the two reconcile and want to dare to start their marriage again.

In the meantime, Kerem has met Martin, who is still in his Santa Claus suit, and asks him to come to his house in costume so that he can fulfill his promise to Lotte to get Santa Claus. Martin agrees after some hesitation. The surprise succeeds, Simone and Kerem speak out and want to get through Kerem's unemployment together. Lotte has informed her classmates and they are now all sitting around Santa Claus, alias Martin, in Simone's and Kerem's living room. Alice also learns Martin's whereabouts and thus gets her interview with Santa Claus.

Klaus found accommodation with a colleague after he ran away from Viktor at the crucial moment in front of the altar. On television he sees Alice interviewing Santa Claus, alias Martin, and he catches his breath when he hears Martin saying that he has a son, with whom he has no contact. Martin also mentions his name: Klaus.

Viktor picks up Klaus from his colleague's apartment and in the car they swear their love again and that they always want to be there for each other. On the way home they meet Martin in a traffic jam, and when father and son, Martin and Klaus, stand across from each other, they embrace.

The film ends with a passionate kiss from Klaus and Viktor in front of the altar after they have said yes.

Reviews

" Everything is love , we want that Christmas" was Kino.de . “Five interwoven episodes about love chaos in the normal pre-Christmas madness, turbulent and wildly romantic. Conclusion: Love is everything, everything is love , and everyone has trouble with love: The film gift for the celebration of love. ” Epd Film only gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and judged that Goller was in the“ variety of the torn Stories “get bogged down. “What is really fatal, however,” is “that there is no grounding in reality”, the scenes are only model apartments and the shelves are only filled with props.

"Not all wishes come true: Everything is love is not actually ... love, " said Cinema.de . “Well-known actors, who bravely allude to silly coincidences and predictable twists, provide the greatest gift. Strange situations […] It's true, the script is largely as formulaic and unoriginal as the film title suggests. On the other hand: Who wants to pull out the rod so shortly before the presents are being handed out? And so we prefer to be dazzled by the cozy glow of lights of this bittersweet comedy. After all, it's only Christmas once a year. "

Michael Ranze described Alles ist Liebe in film-dienst as “a messy episode film” with a “hectic nervousness that doesn't really fit into the intended Christmas mood”. Director Goller mainly relies "on the popularity of his actors". Ranze found that “the message that Christmas is the festival of love” came in this film “so sugar-sweet and forgiving that one would rather prefer the Dutch original”.

The German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) in Wiesbaden awarded the comedy the title valuable . The reasoning states that everything is love is “a turbulent Christmas comedy with good actors, little miracles and lots of cheerful moments” that “constantly oscillates between exuberant comedy and real feelings”. Special praise was given to the “successful [] and contemporary neutral [] handling of a gay couple depicted in the film”. However, director Goller gets bogged down "at some points in the many often only sketched out stories and emotional levels" and the beginning of the film is "a little long". In addition, "the Hollywood film set ... doesn't always really fit into the German pre-Christmas season".
