The Filmhaus Frankfurt eV is an institution founded in 1989 in Frankfurt am Main for film and cultural workers from the Rhine-Main area and the surrounding area.

Range of tasks

The reason for the establishment was the networking of cinematic activities, the support and advancement of the young generation, the initiatives of film-political and -cultural discussions and as a representation of interests of the filmmakers to support, promote and drive forward. It offers seminars, lectures and advanced and advanced training courses on film technology professions, film editing , film lighting design, film sound design, film analysis and film theory . In addition, there is an equipment pool for filmmakers in which film technology can be rented for a fee in order to realize their own projects. The offer is supplemented by production-accompanying measures such as calculation advice, film management , help with the procurement of funds and the placement of specialist staff.

Through the series of contacts, it promotes communication between filmmakers and the placement of internships, such as bringing together producers , authors and directors through to joint events with television companies and cinema operators, and organizes premieres. A special focus is on promoting Hessian film.

The Filmhaus publishes the magazine GRIP , in which the current status of the cultural-political debate, dates, festivals, funding and developments in everyday media in the city of Frankfurt and the surrounding area can be read with the latest information on current seminars and lectures.
