Ueli Steiger

Ulrich "Ueli" Steiger (born August 5, 1954 in Zurich ) is a Swiss cameraman .

Life

The internationally active cameraman Ueli Steiger studied English and art history at the University of Zurich and then moved to the London Film School. After working as a freelance camera assistant and documentary filmmaker in Switzerland, he shot his first feature film “Privileged” in England in 1981 with director Michael Hoffman . With the camera work in Hoffman's “Promised Land” (1986) he also gained a foothold in the USA. Steiger then moved to Los Angeles and worked with directors such as Dennis Hopper , Frank Oz , Cameron Crowe and Roland Emmerich .

His work spans a wide range of comedies, dramas, action and visual effects films for independent films to Hollywood blockbusters such as 10,000 BC.Among other things, he shot The Day After Tomorrow , The Hot Spot - Playing With Fire , Bowfingers Big Number , Austin Powers - Spy in a secret missionary position , Godzilla (1998) , rock star and the Brazilian blockbuster Nosso Lar (selection).
