action

The three aging museum guards Roger, Charles and George love the art they guard. Each of them also has an exhibit that they love and admire more than anything, and about which they often know more than the museum guide for visitors. Roger and Charles each have a favorite picture; in George it is a bronze statue of a naked man. Often, when he feels alone and unobserved during the night, George takes off his clothes and imitates the statue's pose in front of the statue. In daydreams, Roger experiences in front of his picture how a commando group of heavily armed gangsters storms the museum and he takes care of all of them single-handedly to protect "his" picture.

One day the new curator of the museum decides to move the exhibition to Denmark in exchange for other works of art so that it can be exhibited there. Roger, Charles and George are horrified. For a short time they are considering moving to Denmark with the exhibition, but then discarding this plan in favor of making forgeries of their three favorite works and exchanging them for the originals when moving to Denmark. Charles is a hobby painter and makes copies of his painting himself. His attempt to copy Roger's picture as well fails because he lacks the right inspiration. One of the numerous street painters in front of the museum is commissioned to do this. George had his statue recreated based on his own model.

All three volunteer to help pack the exhibition up for transport to Denmark. They smuggle an additional box with the forgeries and George inside into the warehouse, where all the works of art in the exhibition are temporarily stored in boxes. At night George frees himself from the box, exchanges the forgeries for the originals and stows them, including himself, back in the box.

The next morning everything should be transported to the airport. Roger and Charles drive one of the numerous transport vehicles and only want the box that George is in with the originals. Unfortunately, they get the wrong box, as they discover on the way when they see George (again undressed) in the car. With some effort, however, you can still get to the right box.

At the end you see how the three originals are in a small hiding place and are now being alternately guarded by Roger, Charles and George.

Reviews

“The Heist comedy makes you smile more than it is really funny. The planning of the art theft is told in a charming way, but the execution is very simple and not really exciting. The cast does not disappoint completely, but also because of the below-average director, they cannot reach their potential. A nice film, but not quite as nice as visiting a museum in Denmark. "

“What has the potential to be a successful comedy quickly fizzles out due to the weak and pointless script. Only the playful walking and the successful opening sequence can keep the audience halfway happy. "
