Reviews

Sebastian Bezzel received positive reviews for his play in the film.

Kino.de compared the film with Bavarian-influenced comedies such as Markus Goller's A Very Hot Number (2011) and Marcus H. Rosenmüller's Who’s Believes Will Be Blessed (2012), but found that father’s days, in contrast, “do not always hit the mark”: This one Bavarian comedy leaves no cliché out - from lederhosen to Leberkäs to brass music, everything is included that a northern light imagines under Munich. For the locals, this is perhaps a little too much of a good thing and not exactly compatible with the humor north of the Main line, even if the joke flashes [...] They help over the depths of humor in this comedy, decorated with the usual set pieces, about (wrong) family reunification self-deprecating performers.

Slagman Tim von Filmstarts rated the film with two out of five possible stars and wrote: “With Father's Days - Grandpa Overnight Ingo Rasper talks about the purification of a Bavarian Hallodris in an all too routine and clichéd manner - only the supporting roles make a difference [...] If the prejudices, however once they collide and the rough lines of conflict are established, the narrative also picks up speed. Some roles are happily brushed against the grain of popular images. "

Jens Hinrichsen from the film service said about Father's Day : “Sarah Horváth makes up for what her daughter role lacks substance in the script with a self-confident presence, and Sebastian Bezzel is a stunner as a half mischievous, half idiot father. The salt in the soup, however, are the consistently expressive supporting characters [...] All in all, "Father's Days" is amusing, humorous and as fast as a rickshaw ride on a sloping road, a comedy about misunderstandings and rapprochement - between men and women as between East and West Germans . The possible accusation that Rasper handled too many clichés does not apply because the expected is repeatedly undermined. Only at the conciliatory end is Munich advertised in a glossy brochure as the capital of Bavarian liberality and multicultural harmony. That doesn't seem funny, but rather like misplaced city marketing. "

The German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) gave the production the rating of particularly valuable . In its reasoning, the jury said: “You could have turned it into grandiose film dud, which the quoted script, the wonderful staging by Ingo Rasper and a wonderfully put together cast of great actors prevented very successfully. None of the many gags is below the belt, the play of the team of actors is magical, of course, whereby Sebastian Bezzel is in top form, Sarah Horváth is a real discovery and Heiner Lauterbach is able to deliver a brilliant parody as a fagot [...] What the film in the comedy genre then ultimately to a level that deserves an award with the predicate particularly valuable is that the topics of the film, which are ultimately at stake (such as "relationship problems with a child, without a child, child silence, child refusal, infertility, search for a father, etc.") were introduced with a serious undertone. "

success

The comedy premiered on August 5, 2012 at the Five Lakes Film Festival in Starnberg . The official German cinema release by Studiocanal finally followed on September 13th. By October 2012, Father's Day had attracted around 124,005 visitors to the cinemas. With a total of 130,229 visitors, the comedy was placed in the top 50 of the most-watched German cinema productions of 2012.
