action

Grover Beindorf and his sister Stacy are students. The children's parents, Janet and Ned, often argue - although they assure the children that a divorce is out of the question. Grover and Stacy stage their parents' second honeymoon, but that doesn't work. They then lure the parents into the basement of the family house, where Ned and Janet are locked up. They should stay there until they are reconciled.

Grover reveals to his friend Matt Finley what the kids did the next day. TJ Krupp overhears the conversation. Grover, Matt, Stacy and other children party at the Beindorfs house. More parents are included and make some attempts at liberation. They also talk about their problems.

The parents are later released by the police. Grover and Stacy's parents reconcile. TJ's parents jointly set up a law firm.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the comedy was "embarrassingly foolish", "unintelligent" and "artificially sentimental". It could have worked if the events had been made more absurd. However, the scriptwriter and the director would have chosen a "punch-less middle ground". The film could only please a few children.
