Bruce Broughton
Bruce Broughton (born March 8, 1945 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film music composer and conductor.
Life
Broughton grew up in Hawaii and graduated with honors from the University of Southern California in 1967 . As early as the 1960s and 1970s, he drew attention to himself with music for various US television series , including the Smoking Colts , Quincy , Hawaii Five-0 and Dallas .
In 1984 Broughton composed his first soundtrack for a movie for the film War of the Ice Pirates . The following year he received his first Oscar nomination for the film Silverado . This was his breakthrough in Hollywood and from then on he composed film scores for established directors. He is particularly known for his music for several Disney films. He also wrote the score for the film Timekeeper , which ran at Disneyland until 2006.
Bruce Broughton also worked several times with Michael Jackson; For example, he wrote the score for his feature film 'Moonwalker', as well as the long versions of the music video for 'Speed Demon'.
In addition, he has made a name for himself as a conductor with new recordings of classical film music by such important colleagues as Miklós Rózsa or Bernard Herrmann .
Currently, Broughton is concentrating on conducting for the "A Disney Celebration" concert series, as well as his work for the trailer music agency 'A-List'.
