Bigfoot and the Hendersons (Original title: Harry and the Hendersons ) is an American comedy film from 1987 by director William Dear .

action

The Henderson family from Seattle are vacationing in the Rocky Mountains . Father George is blinded by the sun on the way home and hits a large, hairy creature in his car. Only on closer inspection does the family realize that it is the legendary mythical creature Bigfoot . Since George senses appearances on television shows and a lucrative business for the discovery of Bigfoot, they unceremoniously pack the lifeless creature on the roof of the car and drive it back to town. But Bigfoot just passed out and wakes up in the Hendersons garage that night. Bigfoot cannot find his way around the unfamiliar environment and devastates the family home. He is appalled by the many furs and stuffed animal trophies in the house and buries them in the garden.

The family fears Bigfoot at first, and George, who works in a hunting shop, wants to shoot the animal. But eventually he feels sorry for him and recognizes the human features of Bigfoot, who is basically a harmless giant. The Hendersons befriend Bigfoot and George names him "Harry".

Attempts to keep Bigfoot as a pet will fail because he just wasn't made for the human world. So the Hendersons decide that it is best for everyone to get Harry back into the wild. The project is made more difficult by the big game hunter Jacques LaFleur, who is hot on Harry's heels. Eventually the Hendersons manage to bring Harry back into his natural environment and even the hunter takes Bigfoot into his heart.
