Timerider - The Adventure of Lyle Swann is an American science fiction film from 1982. The film was released on video under the alternative title Timerider - With the cross machine on a journey through time .

action

Motorcycle ace Lyle Swann suddenly gets into a time travel experiment during the Baja 1000 rally and ends up in Mexico in 1877. There he experiences a number of adventures and has to deal with various representatives of the Wild West who initially made him think of his motorcycle helmet and his machine think for the devil.

After various adventures with the villain Porter Reese , during which Swan receives support from the Mexican beauty Claire Cygne , he manages to send a helicopter from the present to bring him back into the present. At the very end he remarks that a night of love with Claire led to him being his own great-grandfather .

criticism

“A well-played, but only moderately exciting adventure film that develops into a western with some anachronistic elements and an effective closing punch. Logical problems are only hinted at, the consequences of the mutual culture shock as well as the message of peacefulness are drowned in the crack of the gun. "

"By the time I left the film, after about 55 minutes, there wasn't a description, location, line of dialogue, camera angle or joke that could suggest that Timerider has the faintest idea of what he's doing."

background

In Germany, the film started on August 12, 1983 and was seen by around 185,000 cinema viewers.
