Ed Lauter (* the thirtieth October 1938 as Edward Matthew Lauter II in Long Beach , Long Iceland , New York ; † 16th October 2013 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor .

Career, life

Lauter completed his degree in acting at the Herbert Berghof School after completing his bachelor's degree . Before starting his acting career, he performed as a stand-up comedian . In 1970 he made his Broadway debut in The Great White Hope . The following year he got his first engagements in television, he played small supporting roles in the series Mannix and Cannon . In 1972 he made his cinema debut in The Death Ride of the Magnificent Seven , the sequel to The Magnificent Seven .

During the rest of the 1970s, Lauter was a guest on the television series The Waltons , The Streets of San Francisco , Charlie's Angels and Kojak - Outreach in Manhattan . He also had cinema roles in French Connection II , King Kong and in Alfred Hitchcock 's last film Family Grave . Twice during this time he played alongside Charles Bronson , in Nevada Pass and The White Buffalo . In 1975 he had a leading role alongside Burt Reynolds in Robert Aldrich's Oscar- nominated film The Hardest Mile and later a guest role in the remake of 2005.

Lauter also appeared regularly in television series in the 1980s, including Simon & Simon , The A-Team , Miami Vice and Mord ist her Hobby . His films also included the Stephen King film adaptation Cujo , What a Genius and The City Shark . He also made two other films with Charles Bronson, A Man Becomes a Beast and Death Wish III - The Avenger of New York . Starting in the 1980s, he had a supporting role in Born on July 4th .
