The Last American Hero ( The Last American Hero ) is an American film drama by Lamont Johnson from the year 1973 .
action
Elroy Jackson Jr. helps his father who illegally burns alcohol. His dream job is that of a racing driver.
Junior's father is arrested. Junior starts a race with an old car. He becomes successful as an athlete, but in his private life he experiences an unrequited love. Pressure is put on him to join one of the strong teams. To finance their participation in the races, Elroy Jackson Jr. and his brother illegally burn alcohol. This upsets the father of the two, who is released from prison. He slaps Junior and says his sons have no idea about the prison - they shouldn't risk going there.
Junior starts for a large team. He wins the race and negotiates better financial terms with the team owner than before.

Cinema magazine wrote that the film contained "severe criticism of the American way of life ."
The magazine prisma wrote that Jeff Bridges played "one of his best roles" in this film. The director shows "relentlessly" "in this successful action film that not everyone can make it from dishwasher to millionaire".

The plot is based on the true life story of the racing driver Junior Johnson, who acted as an advisor during the filming. The film was shot in North Carolina and Virginia .
The title track for the film is I Got A Name , written by Charles Fox and sung by American songwriter Jim Croce . It was released in 1973 on the album I got a name on ABC Records.
