Ernest Lamont Johnson, Jr. (born September 30, 1922 in Stockton , California , † October 24, 2010 in Monterey , California) was an American film actor , film and television director who not only received two Emmy awards , but also four times Directors Guild of America Award .

The son of a real estate agent studied briefly at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) between 1942 and 1943 after attending school . Later, he was at times as a radio speaker in radio and as a director of operas operates.
