Alice Maud Krige (born June 28, 1954 in Upington , South Africa ) is a South African actress living in Great Britain , who is best known for roles in science fiction and fantasy films. The most popular is her portrayal of the Borg queen in Star Trek .

life and career

As the daughter of German emigrants, Krige grew up in South Africa. She originally studied psychology at Rhodes University , South Africa, and came into contact with acting by chance. After attending an acting course at Rhodes University, she decided to study acting at London's Central School of Speech and Drama .

1979 Krige made her television debut in a television adaptation of Charles Dickens' The Two Cities , followed by many other theater and television roles in Great Britain and the United States . Including, for example, in 1980 (first broadcast in 1982) a role in season 5, episode 2 "Operation Susi" of the crime series Die Profis and leading roles in The hour of the winner and fear remains (both 1981). In Star Trek: First Contact (1996), she plays the Borg Queen .   • In April 2004 she received an honorary doctorate in literature from Rhodes University.
  • For her performance in the film Shingetsu , Krige received the 2015 Special Jury Award at the International Film Festival for Peace, Inspiration and Equality in Jakarta, u. a. alongside Andy Garcia and Jimmy Carter .
