action

Amber and Richard have been happily engaged for a year. At Christmas time, Amber and her father Rudy travel to Aldovia to plan Bernstein's wedding. Amber continues to blog about royal life with Richard. Amber is overwhelmed by the dictatorial traditions of royal protocol and the lack of control over her own wedding, controlled by flamboyant designer Sahil and Mrs. Averill, while Richard fails to execute his Aldovian economic revival program, the New Aldovia Initiative , that mysteriously bleeds money from the monarchy as unemployment and low wages hit the increasingly discontented population. To aid economic efforts, Queen Helena brings Lord Leopold to assist Richard, as Leopold had planned relief efforts with Richard's late father. Meanwhile, Simon, impoverished due to his divorce from Sophia, also returns to ask to be returned to the palace. An angry Richard reluctantly accepts that Simon is a family.

Amber and Richard's relationship becomes strained as Richard becomes increasingly distracted by royal demands and Amber refuses to adhere to Mrs. Averill's strict guidelines. After Princess Emily's play is canceled by government officials due to a strike, Amber hosts the play at the palace. While the move was well received, Amber gets angry when Mrs. Averill removes posts from her blog about the affair due to her casual nature, and is further angry when Sahil and Mrs. Averill demand that they get her locket (which has the photo of their contains deceased mother) removed for a royal portrait.

After receiving a bitter Christmas card from an unemployed worker, Amber investigates royal finances with friends who have come to celebrate their wedding. She learns that the New Aldovia initiative failed because a group of new companies outbid local workers and took the money out of the country. During a paparazzi ambush, she is rescued by Simon who wants to help investigate the economic problem. With Emily's help, the group hacked into a site where the Shell companies are owned by an association, the Glockenspiel Consortium. Mrs. Averill confronts Richard and Amber with paparazzi photos of Amber in a bar while she investigates, and Amber admits she slaughtered. When Richard can't defend her against Mrs. Averill, she storms out. Richard admits he was engaged to Emily, and after finding Amber, the two make up.

During a royal ceremony at which Helena gives Amber the blessing to hold the ceremony she wishes, the group reveals that the Glockenspiel consortium belongs to Leopold, who is approached and thrown into the palace dungeon. Richard gives a Christmas address promising vacation pay to all Aldovian workers and celebrating the population. Richard and Amber eventually get married in a ceremony that blends tradition with modernity, and everyone celebrates when Richard and Amber leave to share a private kiss.
