Stay Alive is a horror film from director William Brent Bell, shot in 2006 in the United States .

action

A young man is supposed to test a video game called "Stay Alive" for a game developer . A short time later, he is found dead in his house. By chance, the game falls into the hands of Hutch, who also plays it with five of his friends. The next morning, Hutch's boss, who also tested the game the night before, but died in the game, is found dead in his office. Hutch does some research and finds that everyone who played the video game died the same way they died in the game. At first his friends believe in coincidence, but they are increasingly haunted by delusions.

After Phineas' death, those who remained decide to find out who developed the game. The game developer tells them that the game is based on a true story and that the countess from the game, Elisabeth Báthory , really existed. Meanwhile, October learns from the book Hexenhammer that a dark witch can only be killed with three nails, one in the heart, one in the neck and one in the head. After that, their blood must be burned.

Now that the police are on the trail of Hutch and his friends, they decide to go into hiding. In the meantime, Hutch and Abigail have learned that the Countess brutally murdered 39 young girls in their day to stop the aging process by bathing in the blood of the murdered. As a punishment, she was walled up alive in a black tower. When Hutch and Abigail return to Swink, the Countess is in the process of murdering October. All attempts to rescue her friends fail. Since October did not continue playing the game, they conclude that the game is playing itself. You decide to find the black tower and redeem the countess. Swink stays in the van , playing the game as a distraction.

Game and reality merge, so that Swink Hutch can announce the way through the house of the game developer via mobile phone , as this is identical to the route in the game. He also prevents Abigail from being killed by the baroness by throwing roses at her in the game. Hutch also discovers that the black tower is behind the game developer's house, who was previously found dead by Abigail in his study. Meanwhile, Swink is being followed by the Countess's carriage and is in danger of being run over. Hutch and Abigail pick wild roses to protect themselves from the Countess and enter the tower. The two are separated in the Countess's torture chamber. Abigail is attacked by the countess a short time later. At the same time, Hutch finds the Countess's body and drives her nails into her heart, neck and head. With the hammering of the last nail, Abigail's ghost leaves. Hutch turns away as the countess's body rises. He picks up the lighter and sets the room on fire. A short time later, Swink and Abigail appear and pull him out of the burning room.

The next picture shows a game seller holding the retail version of “Stay Alive” in his hands. He takes the game and puts it in a console. The intro of the game appears on a screen .

The poem

At the beginning of the game a poem has to be read out which gives the countess power over the players. The poem reads:

Come to me clouds
rise up as a storm of evil that
should tear open their bodies
May the darkness of the night witness
and destroy those who resist
So that they cannot harm
me, may the blood of the many purify me
and preserve my beauty for ever so
please I ... you
