Wendell Pierce (2007)

Wendell Pierce (born December 8, 1963 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American actor .

Life

Since 1986 he has starred in over 70 films , television series and films. Pierce appeared as himself in five documentaries and worked as a producer on two films . He is best known for his roles as Detective Bunk Moreland and trombonist Antoine Batiste in the HBO dramas The Wire and Treme .

For his role in The Wire , he was nominated for the 2007 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series ( NAACP Image Award for "Best Supporting Actor in a Series - Drama").

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
