Rudolf Girtler

Rudolf Girtler (born April 13, 1877 in Mauer near Vienna ; † December 7, 1952 in Windischgarsten ) was an Austrian civil engineer and university professor.

Rudolf Girtler studied civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology . Here he joined the Corps Symposium which it 1897 recipierte . He completed his studies as a Dipl.-Ing. from. From 1903 to 1910 he was an assistant at the chair for physics at the TH Vienna. In 1905 he was promoted to Dr. techn. PhD. He completed his habilitation and in 1910 passed the major teaching examination for the encyclopedia of mechanics . From 1911 to 1920 he was a lecturer at the Technical University of Vienna before 1920 o. Professor of elasticity and strength of materials and building materials teaching at the German Technical University in Brno was appointed. He returned to the TH Wien in 1940 and taught general mechanics and graphic statics as full professor until 1945 . One of his grandsons is the Austrian sociologist and cultural anthropologist Roland Girtler .
