Francisco Muñiz James IV. Better known as Frankie Muniz , (* 5. December 1985 in Wood-Ridge , New Jersey is) an American actor , musician and racers with Puerto Rican parents; he also has Irish and Italian roots. He gained fame primarily through the title role in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle , for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards .

Life

Frankie Muniz grew up in Knightdale , North Carolina and found his interest in acting through his sister, who was starring in a play. First he got some supporting roles in smaller films like To Dance With Olivia and Explosion des Schweigens (both 1997). From 2000 he appeared as the main actor in the comedy series Malcolm right in the middle . In 2003 he had his first major film role in Agent Cody Banks ; In 2004 the sequel Agent Cody Banks 2: Mission London followed .

After Malcolm broke up in the middle of April 2006, Muniz announced that he had signed a two-year deal with Jensen Motorsport ; in the same year he began his career as a racing driver in the American Formula BMW . From 2007 to 2009 he competed for various teams in the Champ Car Atlantic series and achieved his best position in the third season with ninth place in the overall standings. In 2011, Muniz competed in a Mazda MX-5 Cup race .

From 2012 to 2014 Muniz also played as a drummer in the band Kingsfoil from York , Pennsylvania . Since January 2017 Muniz has also been the manager of the band Astro Lasso , which consists of Muniz's former bandmates Jordan Davis and Tristan Martin.

On November 30, 2012, Muniz suffered a minor stroke, also known as a transient ischemic attack . After less than a year, the actor suffered a second, minor stroke in November 2013. In October 2017 it was announced that he had lost parts of his memory due to further minor seizures and could hardly remember his time with Malcolm in the middle .

Frankie Muniz has been married to Paige Price since February 21, 2020. The wedding took place in Phoenix , Arizona .

Muniz's title role at Malcolm in the Middle earned him multiple awards and nominations for awards. In 2001 and 2002, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Series Lead Actor - Comedy or Musical . In 2001 he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
