Lies Have Short Legs (Original Title: Big Fat Liar ) is an American comedy film from 2002 . The Director led Shawn Levy , the writer wrote Brian Robbins and Dan Schneider . The leading roles were played by Frankie Muniz and Paul Giamatti .

Jason Shepherd is considered a notorious liar. One day he happened to get into the car of the film producer Marty Wolf. There Shepherd loses his school essay, which Wolf uses as a template for the script of his new film.
Nobody believes Shepherd is the actual writer of the filmed story. He and his girlfriend Kaylee go to Hollywood , where Shepherd first seeks an amicable settlement with Wolf and takes revenge when it turns out that no agreement is possible. Numerous people help him, including Wolf's assistant, whom Wolf made enemies.
In the end, Wolf falls into a trap and admits in front of the cameras that he stole the story.

Roger Ebert called the film in the Chicago Sun-Times on 8 February 2002 as a surprisingly entertaining ( surprisingly entertaining ) as well as charming and compared it with the comedy Spy Kids .
Michael O'Sullivan wrote in the Washington Post on February 8, 2002 that the film would manage to be cute and satisfy viewers' malicious tendencies at the same time . He described the film as a good entertainment ( good fun ).
Claudia Puig described the film in USA Today on February 8, 2002 as narcissistic . She scoffed that the comedy looked like an advertisement for Universal Studios in places . Puig praised the charm of Frankie Muniz , she described the character of Marty Wolf as so hopelessly despicable that he would seem implausible.
Awards
Amanda Bynes and Frankie Muniz were in 2002 for the Teen Choice Award nominations. Amanda Bynes won the 2003 Kids' Choice Award and was nominated for the Young Artist Award . The film received another nomination for the Young Artist Award in the Best Comedy category .
