Shawn Adam Levy (* 1967 in Montreal , Quebec ) is a Canadian - American film and television director , actor and producer .

Career

Levy graduated with honors from the Drama Department at Yale University at age 20 . After completing his first degree, he moved to Los Angeles, where he started his acting and directing career after studying film at USC . He first made a name for himself with several short films and then worked under contract with Nickelodeon and Disney Channel .

Levy had his first major appearances in the series thirtysomething , Beverly Hills, 90210 and in the feature film Made in America (1993). Levy's first directorial success was Lies Have Short Legs (2002). This was followed by the comedy Vollmarried (2003). In the comedies Cheaper by the Dozen (2003) and The Pink Panther (2006), he worked with Steve Martin . Most recently, he sat on the director's chair for the films Date Night - Gangster for One Night (2010), Real Steel (2011), Prakti.com (2013) and Seven Damn Long Days (2014). Also in 2014, Night at the Museum: The Mysterious Tomb was published, after which he turned to work on series.

Since 2005 Levy has also worked as a film producer ( Cheaper by the dozen 2 - Two fathers go crazy , at night in the museum , at night in museum 2 , Love Vegas , Date Night - gangsters for one night , Real Steel , The Watch - neighbors of the third kind and seven damn long days ). Levy has been Executive Producer at Stranger Things since 2016 and has also directed a total of six episodes.
