As a young boy, Daniel followed his sister into the woods, where she ran away with an unknown man. That night she was the victim of a tragic murder.

15 years later, Daniel is prone to spontaneous outbursts of violence. When the African American falls in love with the lively high school student Cassie, she manages to break through his emotional barriers. But just as Daniel is ready to leave his past behind, Cassie discovers a dark secret about that fateful night in the woods.

Jovan Adepo plays Daniel

Directed by Kerem Sanga , who also wrote the script. According to the Tribeca Film Festival, his film was inspired by the structure of the Romeo and Juliet story and explores modern growing up in the United States, a process in which racial and class differences threaten relationships. The score was composed by John Swihart .

The main roles of Daniel and Cassie were cast with Jovan Adepo and Grace Van Patten . Mary J. Blige , Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Lukas Haas can also be seen in other roles .

The film should celebrate its world premiere in mid-April 2020 as part of the Tribeca Film Festival . One month before the start of the festival, it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and postponed to a previously unknown date. Nevertheless, the film was made available online from April 15-26, 2020, the festival's original time slot. In September 2020 it will be shown at the American Film Festival in Deauville.
