Steve Martin
Stephen Glenn "Steve" Martin [ ˌstiːvˈmɑɹtn̩ ] (born August 14, 1945 in Waco , Texas ) is an American comedian , writer , musician , producer and actor . In 2014 he was awarded the Oscar of Honor .
Life
Martin comes from a Baptist family . After graduating from Garden Grove High School in 1963, he studied philosophy and drama at California State University for a few semesters . In addition, he worked in the Magic Shop from Disneyland , where he developed his skills in juggling, magic, banjo playing and balloon animals forms. In the late 1960s he wrote his first stage program, with which he toured numerous smaller clubs in Los Angeles.
Martin quickly made a name for himself in the industry. As early as 1969 he won an Emmy as the author of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour . In 1971 he was a permanent member of the Sonny & Cher Show . He became known to a wide audience with numerous appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson . The fact that he is said to have made his screen debut in the Bruce Lee film Greetings from Death from Shanghai is a popular legend. In fact, one of the policemen looks very much like him in this film.
In 1976 he presented the successful comedy program Saturday Night Live for the first time , for which he stood in front of the camera with Dan Aykroyd , John Belushi , Chevy Chase , Eddie Murphy , Bill Murray and Martin Short , among others .
In 1979, Martin played his first leading role in the film Wealth Is No Shame , for which he also wrote the screenplay. In the same year he received an Oscar nomination for the short film The Absent-Minded Waiter . In the 1980s, Martin was among other things in the film noir - parody Dead wear no diamonds , the Golden Globe- nominated comedies Solo for two and Roxanne as well as in the Oscar-nominated horror musical Der kleine Horrorladen . With these films he also became known in Europe .
In 1991 he starred in LA Story and Father of the Bride , a remake of the Spencer Tracy classic. The drama Grand Canyon - In the Heart of the City , in which he played the lead role alongside Kevin Kline and Danny Glover , won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale . His portrayal received a lot of attention in the thriller The Invisible Trap , in which he can be seen in one of his few serious roles. Martin stood in front of the camera with Goldie Hawn in 1992 and 1999 for Housesitter and Schlaflos in New York .
In 2001 and 2003 he hosted the Academy Awards and was nominated for several Emmys. Martin is also still active as an author. The play Picasso at the Lapin Agile premiered in Chicago in 1993 and was made into a film. His books, the collection of short stories Pure Drivel and the novel Shopgirl (made into a film in 2005 ), were also very successful in the late 1990s. In 2003 he played the role as the father of twelve children in Cheaper by the Dozen . In 2005, Steve Martin took over the role of Inspector Clouseau in a remake of The Pink Panther and played the father again in Cheaper By The Dozen 2 .
In 2009 he was seen again in this role with Der rosarote Panther 2 , also alongside Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin in the romantic comedy It's Complicated by Nancy Meyers . That same year, Martin received his fifth Emmy nomination for his guest appearance as Gavin Volure in the eponymous episode of the series 30 Rock .
From 1986 to 1994 he was married to actress Victoria Tennant . On July 28, 2007, he married the journalist Anne Stringfield, with whom he has had a daughter since December 2012.
Martin was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2005 and the Kennedy Prize in 2007 .
In 2010 he received a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album for The Crow / New Songs for the Five-String Banjo . In the same year he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
On March 7, 2010, Martin and Alec Baldwin gave another tour of the Academy Awards at the Kodak Theater . In 2014 he received the honorary Oscar for his life's work.
The American Film Institute (AFI) honored him on June 4, 2015 in Los Angeles with the AFI Life Achievement Award for his life's work.

German dubbing voice
Martin has been dubbed by several voice actors over the course of his career; mostly Norbert Gescher ( The Little Horror Shop , A Ticket for Two , Cheaper by the Dozen ...) was used. Another frequently used voice actor was Eckart Dux ( My Blue Heaven , father of the bride ...); In 2001 Dux read Martin's audio book on Blanker Nonsense . Used also came among others Hans-Werner Bussinger , Frank-Otto Schenk or Randolf Kronberg .
