Free Guy is an American science fiction action comedy by Shawn Levy , which is due to hit German cinemas on December 10, 2020 and US cinemas the following day.

In the open world video game "Free City", a merger of " Grand Theft Auto " and " Fortnite ", Guy is a non-gamer character who works as a bank clerk. Thanks to a code that programmers Milly and Keys inserted into "Free City", Guy realizes that his world is a video game. He then tries to become a hero himself. A race against time begins, because the game must also be saved before the developers can shut it down.

The film was originally scheduled to hit German cinemas on July 2, 2020 and US cinemas the following day. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the US launch date has been postponed to December 11, 2020. The cinema release in Germany should take place the day before.
