Joe Keery (2017)

Joe Keery (born April 24, 1992 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American actor . He achieved international fame as Steve Harrington in the US science fiction mystery series Stranger Things , which is broadcast on Netflix .

Life

Joe Keery grew up in Newburyport , Massachusetts, the second of five children and attended Newbury High School through 2010. After school, he attended The Theater School of DePaul University in Chicago his studies in 2014 and closed. Keery lives in Ravenswood.

Career

After graduating from DePaul University, he auditioned over a hundred times and was selected for a number of roles such as the US television series Sirens and Chicago Fire .

Keery was selected for the 2016 Netflix series Stranger Things , in which he appeared in a recurring role as Steve Harrington throughout the first season. For season two of Stranger Things , Keery returned as Steve, this time in a leading role. In 2017 he and his fellow actors received a Screen Actors Guild Award for the best ensemble in a drama series.

music

Keery is also active as a musician. He is the guitarist and singer for Post Animal , a garage and psych rock band from Chicago. Prior to Post Animal , Keery released music under the name "Cool Cool Cool".
