Ryan Rodney Reynolds (born October 23, 1976 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian - American actor .

Life

Reynolds' father Jim was with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Vancouver, where he later worked as a grocery wholesaler. His mother, Tammy, was a retail saleswoman. Reynolds is the youngest of four brothers. Reynolds attended a Catholic school and describes his home as "strict".

From 1991 to 1993 Reynolds played in the Nickelodeon series Hillside (aka Fifteen ) and was nominated for a Youth in Film Award . For a while Reynolds appeared in various Canadian television productions. He traveled to Los Angeles with actor Chris William Martin , also from Vancouver , to pursue their careers there. After a few months, Reynolds was offered the role of Berg in the television series A Trio to Bite , which became a success. It was this series that gave him opportunities for roles in major movies. Reynolds celebrated success in 2002 with the lead role in Party Animals - It couldn't be wilder! , as Wesley Snipes ' associate in Blade: Trinity in 2004 and in Amityville Horror in 2005 , the remake of the MGM film The Amityville Horror .

For the comic adaptation Green Lantern (2011) Reynolds was cast in the title role of the same name. Another commercially successful comic book adaptation was Deadpool in 2016 , which received a sequel in 2018. Reynolds played the role of Wade Wilson / Deadpool . Previously, Reynolds played the same character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine . However, the characters differ from each other in their story, attitude and skills.

Reynolds was dating the Canadian singer Alanis Morissette from 2002 to 2007 , including three years as a fiancé. In 2008, Reynolds' engagement to actress Scarlett Johansson became public. The two married on September 27, 2008 in Canada. The marriage was divorced on July 1, 2011.

Reynolds has been a couple with actress Blake Lively since 2011 . They met while filming Green Lantern . The couple married on September 9, 2012. They have 3 daughters together (* 2014, 2016 and 2019).

Reynolds has also been a US citizen since 2018 .

He has been the owner of the American mobile operator Mint Mobile since 2019.

According to business magazine Forbes, Reynolds ranks second in the category of highest paid male actors from June 2019 to June 2020 .
