Robby Benson (* 21st January 1956 in Dallas , Texas as Robin David Segal ) is an American actor , director and singer .

life and career

Robin David Segal was born in Dallas to a Jewish family. His mother Ann was a singer and his father Jerry Segal was a writer. He has a sister named Shelli Segal. He grew up in New York City and started performing as a child; for this he took the maiden name of his mother Benson .

He made his Broadway debut on the theater stage with the musical The Rothschilds . Soon after, he also starred in the Search for Tomorrow series (1972). He made his debut as a film actor with the Western Jory (1973). Soon after, he was also seen in other films such as Jeremy and Ode to Billy Joe in teen roles .

As early as 1976, he was included in the list of the twelve most promising new actors from John Willis' Screen World .
