Detail of the base

The Hickelkopf is a climbing rock in the Saxon Switzerland climbing area . It stands above the Großer Zschand near the Hickelhöhle and was formerly known as Kelchstein .

This rock tower , created by the Aeolian weathering , is a little more than 10 meters high, overhanging almost on all sides and only stands on three small pedestal feet, i.e. on a surface of a few square decimeters. Between the three levels, it is easy to see through under the rock. Nevertheless, it is used as a climbing rock and, due to the small footprint and the apparent instability, despite its small size, is often rated as one of the most spectacular climbing rocks in the Saxon Switzerland climbing area . The easiest ascent is the Alte Weg, which has a level of difficulty V on the Saxon scale .
