Bohuslav Svoboda (born February 8, 1944 in Prague ) is a Czech gynecologist and politician and was Mayor of the Czech capital Prague between November 30, 2010 and May 23, 2013 .

Svoboda is a gynecologist by profession. After graduating in 1967, he worked in Příbram for two years , since then he has been working at the maternity clinic of the University Hospital Vinohrady. In 1990 he was appointed head of this clinic, in the same year he completed his habilitation in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. From 1990 to 1996 he was vice dean of the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague , from 2003 to 2010 its dean. In 2010 he was re-elected Vice Dean, but gave up this post when he was elected Mayor of Prague. 1992-1998 Svoboda was President of the Czech Medical Association.

Svoboda ran unsuccessfully in 1998 for the coalition of four to the Senate of the Czech Republic. In September 2010 he joined the Občanská Demokratieická strana . On November 30, 2010, he was elected mayor by a coalition of Občanská Demokratická strana with the Social Democrats to succeed Pavel Bém . This coalition collapsed after only a year. From then on, Svoboda ruled in an alliance of his ODS with TOP 09 . This alliance also broke up in May 2013. Svoboda was then dismissed from the post of mayor by the Prague City Council on May 23, 2013 at the suggestion of the Social Democrats with the approval of TOP 09.

In the early parliamentary elections on 25/26. In October 2013 Svoboda was elected to the Czech House of Representatives for the ODS .
