Richard Thomas (actor)
Richard Earl Thomas (born June 13, 1951 in New York City ) is an American actor .
Life
Thomas began his career on New York's Broadway when he was seven . His parents were dancers. The international breakthrough followed from 1972 with the role in the television series The Waltons . In this series he played John Boy , the eldest son of an extended family. After around five years and 122 episodes, he left the series in 1977. Since then he has acted in numerous feature and television films. He also plays theater regularly .
He has published three volumes of poetry so far. Occasionally he is involved in the Better Hearing Institute because he has been wearing a hearing aid himself since he was 30 years old due to a nervous hearing loss .
Thomas is married for the second time. He has five biological children (one of them triplets ) and two stepchildren. He lives with his family in New York. His hobbies are family, reading, jazz music and cooking.
