Joe Wizan

Joe Wizan (born January 7, 1935 in Monterrey , Nuevo León , Mexico , † March 21, 2011 in Westlake Village , California ) was an American film producer .

Born in Mexico, Wizan grew up in Los Angeles, California . He began studying at UCLA and served in the Army National Guard.

Wizan began his career in the film business as a talent agent in the 1950s. In the 1970s he turned to the production of cinema films in particular and, with his participation, a total of 32 films of various genres were made by 2001. Wizan has been an independent producer for most of his career, having started his own company in 1970.

Wizan was responsible for the film adaptation of several literary models, such as two works by James Patterson .

In 1983 he was named President of 20th Century Fox Productions and remained in the position for 18 months. He left the studio before the termination of a three-year contract, according to his own statement, due to considerable differences in the question of which projects should be produced and realized.

In the 1990s, he hosted a talk show on KRLA radio station in Los Angeles. This show, which he initiated, initially entitled Inside the Movies , later renamed The A-List , dealt with the film industry and welcomed numerous actors, screenwriters and other personalities active in the film industry as guests.

For the 1972 directed film Jeremiah Johnson , the entire film team was awarded the Bronze Wrangler at the Western Heritage Awards the following year . For the production Two of the Same Kind, Wizan was nominated for the Golden Raspberry in 1984.

Wizan was married and had two children.
