James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film looked like a bad episode of Fawlty Towers . The scriptwriters seemed to have seven year olds in mind.
Kevin Thomas wrote in the Los Angeles Times (January 12, 1996) that the comedy was "delicious" and "funny". Faye Dunaway seems "gorgeous".
