Todd Black

Todd Black (born February 9, 1960 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American film producer who was nominated for an Oscar .

Career

Todd Black was born in Dallas and raised in Los Angeles . He attended the University of Southern California and began his career as a caster . In 1995, Black became chairman of Mandalay Entertainment .

As a co-producer, he worked on the film Spellbinder - A Devilish Plan in 1988 for the first time. As a film producer, he worked several times with Will Smith , such as The Pursuit of Happiness and Seven Lives . The most frequent actor in his produced films is Denzel Washington . The two first worked together on the film Antwone Fisher in 2002 . It was followed by other films such as The Great Debaters , The Abduction of the Pelham 123 Underground , The Equalizer , The Magnificent Seven and Fences . For the latter film, Black received an Oscar nomination along with Scott Rudin and Denzel Washington at the 2017 Academy Awards in the category of best film .
