For this, the convicted and in the eyes of his assistant Yvonne Pendleton completely unsuitable Dell Scott is hired. The relationship turns out to be difficult at first, as both come from completely different worlds. Philip is interested in modern art and opera , while Dell is mainly concerned with how to re-establish contact with his son Anthony. Over time, Dell and Philip get closer and a friendship begins that both of them flourish.

After a date goes wrong between Philip and his pen pal Lily, Dell is fired because Philip accuses him of putting him in this position. Philip lets himself go more and more and also pushes Yvonne out of his life. With the money Dell has made, he buys a house for Latrice and Anthony and starts his own business. Some time later, when he learns from Philips' physiotherapist how bad he is, he takes him on a wild ride in a Ferrari . As a result, their friendship is restored and they go on a paragliding flight together. Dell also gets Philip to reconcile with Yvonne.

reception

Overall, the film received mixed feedback from the critics.

Wendy Ide notes in The Observer that everything that was already wrong with the original (“its sentimentality, its simplification”) is even more noticeable here. Above all, however, she is bothered by the cast: "The slow US remake exchanges the unrestrained charm of Omar Sys's affable screen presence for the annoying irritation emanating from Kevin Hart."
