action
The US Navy petty officer Antwone Fisher has to contact psychologist Lieutenant Commander Dr. Jerome Davenport report. After a few sessions, Fisher tells the psychologist about his childhood. His father was killed before he was born and his mother was sent to prison where he was born. He grew up in an orphanage and later with foster parents: Mr. and Mrs. Tate. After being mentally and physically abused by Mrs. Tate, he left the family at the age of 14 and lived on the streets. Antwone went to the Navy to make something of his life. Davenport finds it difficult to access the young man. Antwone manages to build a relationship with colleague Cheryl. Davenport advises Fisher to find his real mother. Fisher later finds his aunt Annette and eventually biological mother Eva May, whom he forgives.
In the end, Fisher thanks Davenport. This tells him that he has dealt with his own repressed problems through the therapy.
