Salli Elise Richardson-Whitfield (born November 23, 1967 in Chicago , Illinois as Salli Elise Richardson ) is an American actress and director.

Private life

The mother of the actress is of African American-Indian descent, the ancestors of her father , who works at the University of Chicago , came from Italy and Ireland. Richardson grew up in Chicago, where she appeared in a theater.

Richardson has been married to actor Dondre Whitfield since 2002 . She lives in Los Angeles with him and their daughter, Parker Richardson Whitfield .

Her first film role she played in the drama Up Against the Wall from 1991.
