Westlake Village is a city in Los Angeles County in the US state of California with 8,473 inhabitants (as of 2014). The urban area has a size of 14.7 km². It borders directly on the western city of Thousand Oaks , which is already part of Ventura County . It was built from 1963 as a planned town on a 12,000 acre ranch by the entrepreneur Daniel K. Ludwig , owner of the American Hawaiian Steamship Company .
The city is the seat of the Dole Food Company and the shoe manufacturer K-Swiss .
