Joshua Crumbly (born October 15, 1991 in Westlake Village , California ) is an American musician ( double bass , electric bass , also composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Crumbly began playing the piano at the age of three; at the age of five he received classical piano training. He took lessons from Dathan Dedman in Palmdale, California. He made his first appearances at piano recitals. He started playing the electric bass at the age of nine and performed with musicians in Palmdale. During this time he had lessons from Todd Johnson, Reggie Hamilton and Victor Bailey . Towards the end of high school, he also began playing the double bass. On the recommendation of Reggie Hamilton, he took lessons from Al McKibbon . From 2009 he attended the Juilliard School in New York City.

During his first year of study he got the opportunity to play in the Terence Blanchard Quintet. He can be heard on his 2013 Blue Note album Magnetic . In that year he graduated from Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Music. From the early 2010s he also worked with Lauren Desberg , Christian Scott , Braxton Cook , Laurent Coq , Stefon Harris , ( Sonic Creed , 2018), Leon Katrins , Kamasi Washington , Lizz Wright , Ravi Coltrane and Anthony Wilson ; he also played in the bands of Charles Blenzig and Jimmy Macbride in 2018/19 . In the field of jazz, he was involved in six recording sessions between 2012 and 2018, according to Tom Lord .
