Jimmy Macbride

Jimmy Macbride (born May 10, 1991 ) is an American jazz musician ( drums , also composition ) of modern jazz .

Macbride comes from a musical family; his father David is a composer, his mother Lisa an artist; his sister Alma Macbride (* 1995) is a jazz pianist and filmmaker. He started playing the drums at the age of three and was interested in jazz music from an early age. He studied at New York's Juilliard School , where he had lessons from Carl Allen , Billy Drummond and Kenny Washington . In the course of his career so far he has played a. a. with musicians like Herbie Hancock , Terence Blanchard , Wynton Marsalis , Kenny Barron , Jimmy Greene and Adam Rogers . He also appears regularly in New York venues such as Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Smalls , The Jazz Gallery and Blue Note , as well as at festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival , North Sea Jazz Festival and the Newport Jazz Festival .

In the field of jazz, Macbride was involved in 16 recording sessions between 2012 and 2018, according to Tom Lord . a. with Luke Sellick , Clovis Nicolas , Chad Lefkowitz-Brown , Alex Goodman , Adam Larson and Nick Finzer . He is currently working with Nir Felder , Samora Pinderhughes' Transformations Suite, the Lucas Pino Nonet and the Roxy Coss Quintet, as well as playing with Lage Lund , Ben Street , Kevin Hays , Fabian Almazan , Matt Brewer , Michael Rodríguez and Dayna Stephens . In 2019 he led his own quartet, which includes Ron Blake , Shai Maestro and Joshua Crumbly .
