Shai Maestro (born February 5, 1987 ) is an Israeli pianist, composer and arranger of modern jazz . He first gained fame through his collaboration with Avishai Cohen .

Live and act

Shai Maestro started playing the piano at the age of five and came into contact with jazz as a child. He later attended the Thelma Yellin High School of Performing Arts in Giv'atajim and the Berklee College of Music . He then developed his skills at the Jerusalem Music Academy in jazz piano , composition and classical piano. He also trained in Indian music and learned to drum on the tabla . During his time as a pupil and student he received numerous scholarships .

Maestro joined the musician Avishai Cohen in 2006 and played the piano on four music albums and numerous international concerts of him. In 2010 Maestro founded the Shai Maestro Trio with Israeli drummer Ziv Ravitz and Peruvian bassist Jorge Roeder as band leaders in New York City . In 2011 Maestro decided to focus on his own trio and stepped out of Cohen's band.
