Charles Blenzig

Charles Blenzig (born August 12, 1968 in the Bronx , New York City ) is an American fusion and jazz musician ( piano , synthesizer , composition , arrangement ).

Live and act

Blenzig worked in the New York fusion and jazz scene from the late 1980s; he played his self-titled debut album in 1989 with Chris Hunter , Mike Stern , Will Lee and Joe Bonadio . In the following years he played a. a. with Gato Barbieri , Michael Brecker , Bill Evans , Larry Coryell , Joe Locke , the Mingus Big Band , Michał Urbaniak , Dennis Chambers , Manolo Badrena , Billy Kilson , Marcus Miller , Eddie Gomez , Billy Hart and as musical director for the singer-songwriter Michael Franks . He was also a member of the Gil Evans Orchestra when it performed regularly at the Sweet Basil jazz club . Blenzig teaches in the Jazz Department at the Purchase Conservatory of Music (State University of New York at Purchase) . In the field of jazz he was involved in 23 recording sessions between 1998 and 2018, including a. also with Kenwood Dennard , Mike Fahn , Vinnie Cutro , Michael Treni and Tom Kennedy . Currently (2019) Blenzig is working with his own quintet, which includes Corey Wallace , Christopher McBride , Joshua Crumbly (bass) and Kush Abadey .
