Christopher McBride

Christopher Ramon McBride (* 1984 ) is an American modern jazz musician ( alto saxophone ) .

McBride, son of a Honduran father and an American mother, grew up in a musical family. He was influenced by gospel , jazz, hip-hop , reggae , soca, dancehall, world music and R&B. From the seventh year he sang in the church choir. He started playing the saxophone when he was ten. As a student he attended several music camps such as the Interlochen Center for the Arts , where he received a scholarship in 2000. After high school, he attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb , where he graduated with a degree in music education.

He began his professional musician career in 2007 in Chicago; The first recordings were made there with the singer Milton Suggs ( Things to Come ). Since then he has worked with musicians such as Billy Preston , Antonio Hart , John Clayton , Jimmy Heath , Bobby Broom , Percy Gray , Roy Hargrove , Talib Kweli , Lupe Fiasco , Guy Sebastian , Jennifer Hudson , 88 Keys , Marquis Hill , Melton Mustafa and Winard Harper . In 2012 he released his debut album Quatuor de Force under his own name . a. Makaya McCraven participated. He lives in Brooklyn, New York. In the field of jazz he was involved in seven recording sessions between 2009 and 2016.
