Art Lund

Arthur "Art" Earl Lund Jr. (Born April 1, 1915 in Salt Lake City , Utah , USA ; † May 31, 1990 in Holliday , Utah, USA) was an American singer and actor . He became known in the 1940s as the singer of the Benny Goodman orchestra , later through songs like Mam'selle and his involvement in films and television series such as Detective Rockford - a call is enough or Smoking Colts .

Life

Career

Arthur Lund studied aerology at Westminster College in Salt Lake City and at Easter Kentucky State Teachers College , and in 1943 he did his Masters at the United States Naval Academy . After serving in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II , he made a career as a singer with orchestras of Benny Goodman and Harry James . He later achieved success as a solo singer at MGM with titles such as Mam'selle (1947), Blue Skies and My Blue Heaven , for which he also received gold records . From 1956 he also appeared in Broadway musicals, including The Most Happy Fella . Even in films such as The Godfather of Harlem , he became known.

Private

Lund was married twice in total. His first marriage was on July 26, 1940 with Kathleen Virginia Bolanz, who had two children. His first wife was killed in a car accident on October 16, 1969. On May 1, 1989, he married Janet Burris Chytraus. He lived with his second wife in Sherman Oaks , California , until they emigrated to Holliday (Utah). There he died of cancer. It rests in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles .
