Peter Coyote
Peter Coyote , actually Robert Peter Cohon (born October 10, 1941 in Manhattan , New York ) is an American actor .
Career
Peter Coyote first studied English literature at Grinnell College and graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree . He then moved to San Francisco , where he attended the State University the Master degrees acquired. He was part of the American “counterculture” subculture during the 1970s , so he was involved in social and political actions and played in an avant-garde drama group. He later wrote an autobiography about his time as a hippie called Sleeping Where I Fall , which became a bestseller in the United States .
It was only at the age of 39 that he turned to film. At first he played mainly minor roles in television productions until he made his breakthrough in Steven Spielberg's classic ET - The Extra Terrestrial in 1982 . In this he played in a larger supporting role the state agent "Keys", who goes in search of aliens. In the same year he had his first leading role in the feature film Timerider - The Adventure of Lyle Swann opposite Fred Ward . The rest of the 1980s he starred in several film and television productions. In 1992, Roman Polański cast him in a leading role in Bitter Moon . Substantial supporting roles in popular films such as Sphere , Patch Adams and Erin Brockovich followed .
In 1993 he received an Emmy Award for his work on the documentary The Pacific Century . At the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002, he and Glenn Close acted as narrator for the opening ceremony. Since the mid-2000s he was increasingly seen in television series , for example in a leading role in the series The Inside and in recurring guest roles in Welcome Mrs. President , Brothers & Sisters and 4400 - The Returners .
Peter Coyote has been married for the second time since 1998 and has a son and a daughter from his first marriage. His first marriage was divorced in 1998 after 23 years.
The actor's German dubbing voices include Reinhard Kuhnert , Thomas Fritsch , Dennis Brandau , Bernd Stephan and Jürgen Kluckert .
