action

The dubious scientist Charles Garrison wants to sell a barrel of the dangerous warfare agent trioxin-5 , which can reanimate dead living beings, to shady backers, who later reveal themselves to be agents of Interpol . The officials pretend to accept the offer, but first request proof of the authenticity of the agent. The unsuspecting Garrison revived three corpses laid out against his will, which mutate into so-called zombies . The resurrection gets out of hand and the creatures decimate the men present. Garrison himself is attacked and killed by a reanimated test subject. The two agents Aldo Serra and Gino finally end the scenario and kill all the undead . Then they go looking for other possible barrels that they suspect in the vicinity of the killed scientist.

Shortly before Halloween , news of the researcher's sudden death reached his nephew Julian, a student at the local university. The young man then sifts through the deceased's estate. Together with his girlfriend Jenny he comes across two more barrels. Instead of contacting an authority, however, the two contact their friend Cody, who carelessly opens a keg for them in the institute's laboratory and systematically examines the liquid in the presence of Shelby, his girlfriend, and Jenny's brother Jeremy. A complete analysis is not possible for him, however, Cody only investigates the presence of an active ingredient that is similar in effect to the party drug ecstasy . In a self-test, Jeremy tries the unknown substance for possible usability. Ingesting a tiny amount triggers the trip of a lifetime for Jeremy . However, the trioxin has a disastrous property that initially goes undetected. Depending on the dose, it transforms the consumer gradually or immediately into brain- and human-flesh-hungry zombies.

The youngsters sense big business and start producing the intoxicant against Julian and Jenny's wishes. The result is a mint-green, capsule-shaped designer drug that is sold on campus by the dealer Skeet under the simple name "Z" . The capsules are selling well. Little by little, the first consumers are turned into the undead. An overdose accelerates the creeping mutation. The profit-hungry students conjure up a catastrophe so unsuspectingly.

Meanwhile, Jenny administered the as yet unknown substance to a few test rats in the institute's genetic laboratory. The animals react extremely aggressively to the drug and bite the present researcher Brett, who inevitably mutates into a zombie. This in turn falls to other friends. It triggers a first wave of mutations. The few infected can initially be liquidated by the officials who have since arrived without causing any major fuss. The students now recognize the effects of their greed for profit and cooperate with the two agents. The civil servants want to take both the remaining barrels and the capsules out of circulation, but their intervention comes a little too late. Dealer Skeet sells hundreds of the drugs at a rave event organized by Jeremy called Rave to the Grave .

Finally, on Halloween evening, there is a showdown. The armed agents, Julian, Jenny and Cody arrive at the event together at a cemetery outside the city. This leads to a predictable mass mutation that is not properly perceived by the partying dancers. At first there is no panic. In the midst of this situation, the five gunmen attempt to seize all drugs, but this is impossible due to the size of the event. Jenny tries to save her brother, DJ Jeremy. But she fails, as does Cody, who tries in vain to protect his companion Shelby. For most partygoers, any help comes too late. In a true massacre with opaque fighting, some zombies are killed by the agents until called air support razes the area to the ground. Only Jenny and Julien and Agent Serra survive the next morning. In front of a huge explosion crater , the officer advises the two survivors to flee from approaching special army units.

Reviews

The lexicon of the international film wrote that the film was “a trash infusion in the wake of the relevant 'Living Dead' series, which apart from a good measure of genre-typical sexism and considerable blood toll has nothing to offer”.
