A Time For Dancing (alternate title: Time For Dancing - Never Give Up Hope ) is an American drama from 2000 . Directed by Peter Gilbert , the screenplay was written by Kara Lindstrom based on the novel of the same name by Davida Wills Hurwin .

action

The girls who are friends Juliana Michaels and Samantha Russell attend a dance school and dream of studying at the Juilliard School . Russell lives with her single mother and works to finance lessons. Sometimes she seems tired and unable to concentrate in class.

Michaels sometimes feels pain that she ignores. When she is cancer diagnosed. The girls do not drop out of classes despite the illness. Michaels applies for a place at a prestigious dance school and dies before the letter comes stating that she has been accepted. Russell ends up reading this letter; her voiceover says she wished the letter had been written by someone who knew Michaels as well as she did.

Reviews

Film-Dienst wrote that the film was a “sentimental youth drama about friendship and the power of dreams, which became ill under excessive conditions in all respects”.

Cinema magazine wrote that the film was "a shallow touch with a lot of music".

Awards

Peter Gilbert was nominated for the Directors Guild of America Award in 2004. Kara Lindstrom was nominated for the Daytime Emmy in 2004.
