Darling, now we've shrunk

Darling, now we have a giant baby is a 1992 Walt Disney Pictures film with Rick Moranis in the role of Wayne Szalinski, whom he played in the film Darling, I've Shrunk the Children . Directed by Randal Kleiser . The film opened in German cinemas on January 28, 1993.

Other actors are Marcia Strassman as Wayne's wife Diane and Robert Oliveri , who plays her son Nick, who previously shrunk in the film. Keri Russell is Mandy, the babysitter and, as the antagonist of Wayne and his family, John Shea , the Dr. Charles Hendrickson plays.

action

The film begins with the farewell to Wayne Szalinski, his daughter Amy and his wife Diane. Diane takes Amy to college while Wayne, son Nick, and little Adam stay at home. Wayne takes Nick to school and then drives to work, where Wayne's invention is being tried, but it fails. Dr. Hendrickson is not enthusiastic about the result and confronts Szalinski, who tries to explain himself.

On a Saturday, Wayne drives Nick and Adam into the lab to do a test on his machine without permission. To do this, he needs a test object and takes little Adam's stuffed rabbit. He also wants to change the intensity of the beam, which ultimately leads to the database being deleted. When the attempt begins, nobody pays attention to Adam who is trying to get his rabbit back. He is hit by the beam and goes back into his buggy without anyone noticing. He grew a little, as Wayne later notices when he tries to take him out of the child seat.

When he gets home, Wayne cooks something for Adam in the microwave. After the meal is ready, electricity is transferred from the microwave to Adam, whereupon Adam grows enormously. Later on, the other two discover it with horror.

By the time they went back to the lab and came back, Diane has already returned and is finally confronted with the fact that her youngest son is six feet tall. Wayne and Diane then decide to get the shrink machine from the previous film in the laboratory to shrink Adam again. Meanwhile, however, the babysitter Mandy has come and Adam has grown to four and a half meters because of the television.

Adam is then transported in a truck and grows to 15 meters because of the high-voltage line . He makes his way to Las Vegas after breaking out of the truck.

By enlarging Diane it finally succeeds in shrinking Adam back to normal. In the final sequence, you see Nick and Mandy, flirting in a sports car, who have now shrunk to tiny with Adam (because they were normal-sized in Adam's giant bag), and like Adam with the giant rabbit that grew with him but not was present during the shrinking process.

Reviews

The lexicon of the international film wrote that the "only partially funny" sequel could neither in dramaturgy nor in the trick technique "come close to the turbulent wealth of ideas of its predecessor."

The German Film and Media Evaluation FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the title valuable.
