Marcia Strassman
Marcia Strassman (born April 28, 1948 in New York City , New York - † October 25, 2014 in Sherman Oaks , California ) was an American actress .
Life and accomplishments
Strassman grew up in New Jersey and worked as a model in her childhood . As a teenager, she replaced Liza Minnelli in the Off-Broadway - musical Best Foot Forward . In 1964, Strassman received her first television role on The Patty Duke Show . Her film debut followed in 1969 in the film drama Free as the Wind . She became known through the role of Julie Kotter in the television series Welcome Back, Kotter , which she played from 1975 to 1979.
In the adventure film Der Flieger (1985) Strassman starred alongside Christopher Reeve and Rosanna Arquette . In the comedy Darling, I've Shrunk the Children (1989) she played the wife of the scientist Wayne Szalinski ( Rick Moranis ). She took on the same role in the sequel Darling, Now We Have a Giant Baby (1992), for which she was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1993. In the comedy The Movie Hero (2003) she played the mother of the main character played by Jeremy Sisto .
Strassman was married to director and screenwriter Robert Collector since 1984, with whom she had a daughter, who was born in 1987. In October 2014 she succumbed to breast cancer .
