Rick Moranis
Frederick Alan Rick Moranis (born April 18, 1953 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian actor , comedian and musician .
Life
Moranis achieved worldwide fame, especially in the 1980s and 1990s, through numerous comedic appearances in successful movies. He had his breakthrough with the comedy show Second City TV , which he co-designed , in which he played the stereotypical Canadians Bob & Doug McKenzie together with Dave Thomas . In 1982 he received an Emmy Award in the script category for a variety, music or comedy show for the episode Moral Majority Show broadcast in 1981 .
In his first movie, which he also directed, he took up these two characters again. In addition to his success in movies like Ghostbusters , Spaceballs , Liebling, I have shrunk the children and the Feuerstein family , he was also able to assert himself as a DJ on several Canadian radio stations. In 1993 he also starred in the music video for Tomorrow's Girls by Donald Fagen .
Moranis was last in front of the camera in 1997. After his wife Anne Moranis died in 1991 of complications from cancer, he increasingly withdrew from the film business in order to devote himself more to raising his two children. According to a 2015 interview, however, he is not retired, just very picky. He turned down a guest appearance in the remake of the Ghostbusters .
Moranis is active as a musician. In 2005 his album was released The Agoraphobic Cowboy with country songs and comedy deposits, which at the Grammy Awards 2006 as Best Comedy Album was nominated. His klezmer album My Mother's Brisket followed in 2013 , on which Moranis deals with his Jewish origins in comedy songs.
