Leslie Frances Neale (* before 1987) is a director , actress and producer.

Life

Neale began her career as a child at the Dallas Theater Center and then graduated from the University of Texas at Austin .

As an actress, Neale starred in the films Addicted (1988), Darling, Now We Have a Giant Baby (1992), Twilight Man (1996) and Uncle Sam - I Want You Dead (1996), among others . TV series she has appeared on include Beauty and the Beast (1987), Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century (1989), Dallas (1990) and The Seattle Duo (1996). In 1998 she made her last appearance as an actress and dedicated herself to documentary film.

She has worked as a director, screenwriter and producer in several films, with a particular focus on the topic of social justice in the criminal justice system. With her 1998 and 1999 multi-award-winning film Road to Return , commented by Tim Robbins and auditioned for the United States Congress , she successfully called for the approval of a law that led to the establishment of aftercare programs for prison inmates in seven states . In 2004 her film Juvies was released , with commentary by Mark Wahlberg , which points to draconian sentences for juvenile offenders who either did not commit these acts or were only marginally involved in them. In addition to an International Documentary Association Award nomination, the film received the Beverly Hills Film Festival Jury Award. It is considered one of the ten best Human Rights Watch films in 2005 and was also shown at the United Nations . In 2013 she released her film Unlikely Friends , with commentary by Mike Farrell .

In November 1990 she married the musician John Densmore . The two have a child and have now filed for divorce.
