occupation

Viper is an American television series that focuses on a technically sophisticated vehicle used to fight crime. The series is a mixture of science fiction and action / adventure.

In seasons one to three a Dodge Viper RT / 10 is used, in the fourth season the main characters drive a Viper GTS. At the push of a button, the vehicles are transformed from an ordinary production vehicle into a silver-colored, heavily armored vehicle equipped with many weapons, with which the hunt for criminals is carried out undetected.

Seasons

There are a total of four seasons with 79 episodes, which were filmed in the USA from 1994 to 1999 and also in Canada from the second season.

season 1

The first season consists of 13 episodes, including the two-part pilot film Brainwashing . It tells the story of Michael Payton, a criminal who is notorious for his excellent driving skills. The police choose him as the driver for their new secret weapon, the Viper. It is a state-of-the-art crime-fighting vehicle. By erasing Payton's memory, he turns him into Joe Astor, who should now be responsible for law and order on the side of the good guys.

When the secret project is abandoned for political reasons, Astor steals the Viper. Together with their builder Julian Wilkes and the boss of the police fleet Franklin X. Waters, he tries from then on alone to fight the crime.

season 2

The second season consists of 22 episodes. Due to its success, the project is taken over by the police again. A new team is put together, only Franklin X. Waters is taken over as mechanic. The new driver is Thomas Cole, who, like the computer expert Allie Farrow and "Frankie", has access to the complex, the new control center of the secret project.

season 3

The third season of the series also consists of 22 episodes. Now without Allie Farrow, but with a new FBI liaison, Sherman Catlett, the team faces the crime.

In the last episode, The Double Cole (Originally "About Face"), the Viper is destroyed by the team in action.

Season 4

Again consisting of 22 episodes, the fourth season is the last. In the first episode, Joe's Comeback (English original title "The Return"), the viewer experiences the return of Joe Astor, who replaces Thomas Cole as driver. The car will also be replaced - a cobalt blue metallic Viper GTS replaces the previously used red Viper RT / 10.

Throughout the season, Joe Astor is confronted with his past as Michael Payton. The season ends in the two-part episode Who Is Joe Astor? (Originally "Split Decision"), in which Astor has to choose between his two lives as a criminal or as a police officer.

With the new look of the Viper, in addition to the familiar technical equipment (EMP, hook, drone, etc.), it also receives new equipment, such as the hovercraft mode, into which the Viper can transform itself if necessary.

The color of the Viper GTS, cobalt blue metallic, was custom-made for the series.
